Harmony Domes FAQ

Everything about our domes, interior units and tiny houses, from how they ship to how to finance them. Search, or jump to a topic.

Domes

The structures themselves: packages, performance and sizes.

What is a Harmony geodesic dome?

A geodesic dome is an engineered, weatherproof structure you can live in or rent year-round. Harmony domes ship as a finished or finish-ready home, with an architectural PVC cover on a galvanized, powder-coated steel frame, built to last 15 to 20 years.

What is the difference between the Core, Comfort and Signature packages?

Core is the structure itself, ready for you to finish. Comfort adds foil insulation, a finished canvas liner and curtains for a warm, move-in-ready interior. Signature steps up to glass doors and windows, solid wall panels and blackout curtains for a finished, year-round home.

Can I use a dome year-round, in cold winters and hot summers?

Yes. With insulation and the Comfort or Signature package, the dome holds heat through winter and stays comfortable in summer, and it takes a standard heater or AC unit like any small room. The shape sheds snow and stands up to strong wind when anchored.

How tough are the domes?

Engineered up to 250 mph winds and 100 psf snow load, with a 15 to 20 year lifespan. If your county code calls for higher ratings, a heavier frame is available and we build to that spec.

What sizes are available?

From the Dome 5 at about 200 sq ft up to the Dome 10 at about 800 sq ft, suited to anything from a cozy two-person stay to a spacious rental for a group.

What is the dome cover made of?

A high-grade Belgian architectural PVC membrane on a hot-dip galvanized, powder-coated steel frame. The cover is waterproof, UV-stable and fire-rated, with a 15 to 20 year life, and the frame is protected against rust and corrosion. It is built to outlast the lighter covers budget domes rely on.

How do I clean and maintain the dome?

Very little upkeep. Wash the cover about twice a year with a soft brush, mild soap and water, then rinse. Skip solvents, abrasive pads and high-pressure steam. With normal care the membrane lasts 15 to 20 years, and it is replaceable to extend the structure beyond that.

Can I connect domes or create separate rooms?

Yes. Interiors divide into separate spaces, and domes connect to one another by tunnels to build larger, multi-room layouts. It is a common way to grow a single stay into a full resort.

Do membrane colors affect temperature?

All colors share the same thickness, coating and rating. Color mainly affects heat: lighter tones reflect sun and keep a sun-exposed site cooler, while darker tones hold more warmth. We help you pick for your climate.

Interior Unit

The modular core that turns a dome into a finished home.

What is the modular interior unit?

A complete interior core that turns a finished dome into a livable, rentable home: a full bathroom, a kitchen and a queen loft bed, ready to connect to your water, sewer or septic, and power.

Which dome sizes does the interior unit fit?

Dome 6 and larger, which covers the 6, 7, 8 and 10. Tell us your dome size and we confirm the layout and fit.

Does the interior unit ship finished, or do I build it?

It arrives as an easy-to-assemble flat pack with clear instructions, so it travels efficiently and goes together quickly on site, with our team on call if you have questions.

Can the interior unit run off-grid?

Yes. Off-grid setups with solar and water tanks are available on request. Tell us about your site and we tailor the unit to it.

Can I buy the interior unit on its own?

Yes. If you already own a dome, the unit can be ordered on its own to finish it. Send us your dome size and we confirm the fit.

Tiny Houses

Our furnished, certified tiny homes.

What is included with the tiny house at $75,000?

A fully built tiny house with full furniture and electric appliances, finished and ready to live in or host.

Are the tiny houses certified?

Yes. Our tiny houses are RVIA and NOAH certified, which helps with financing, insurance and where you are able to place them.

Does the tiny house come on a trailer or a foundation?

Either way, based on your preference. We build it on a trailer chassis or set it up for a foundation.

Where do you deliver tiny houses?

All 50 states, by transport carrier, quoted by distance to your site. We confirm the delivery cost with you before you commit.

Can I rent the tiny house out?

Yes. It makes an excellent short-term rental: finished, furnished and ready to host from day one, so it can start earning quickly.

Configurator & Buying

Building your price, reserving, and going custom.

How does the configurator work?

Pick your size and package, then adjust glass, doors, skylights, ventilation and climate options. The price updates live, and you can download a PDF of your build or send it to us for a quote.

What does the $500 reservation mean? Is it refundable?

It holds your build slot and your pricing while we finalize the details, with no obligation to complete the order. It is fully refundable and applies toward your purchase.

Do I pay the full amount upfront?

No. Reserve your build for $500, or add to cart where available, and use financing to spread the cost over time.

What if I want a fully custom build?

Send us your design or book a call. We build custom domes and full sites, and we will quote anything beyond the standard options.

Ordering, Delivery & Shipping

Timelines, costs and how your order arrives.

How long until I get my order?

Typically 9 to 12 weeks from order to delivery for any structure, built to your county code. We keep you posted at each stage.

How does shipping work, and what does it cost?

Shipping is quoted per order. We shop multiple carriers for the best mix of speed, insurance and cost for your location, then confirm it with you before you commit.

Where do you deliver?

Across the United States and Canada, and we can arrange international delivery on request.

How is my order shipped?

In protective crates with all frames, covers and hardware, plus the assembly manual and parts list. You receive tracking once it ships.

Financing

Paths for a single dome up to a full site.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, for every project size: soft-pull monthly plans through Hearth for a single dome, and business or SBA lending for a full site.

How does applying for financing work?

You apply once, we run a soft credit pull, and your offers arrive by email, usually 10 to 12 of them. You pick the one that fits you best.

Will checking my financing options affect my credit?

No. Prequalification uses a soft credit check, so seeing your options does not affect your score.

Is there financing for a business or several units?

Yes. For larger and multi-unit projects we work with Koala non-traditional lending and SBA loan programs through our specialist partners.

Permits, Foundation & Setup

Where it goes and how it gets built.

What do I set the dome on?

A wooden deck, a concrete pad, or firm, level ground, using the heavy-duty anchor plates included with every dome. Every order includes base dimensions and a deck guide.

Do I need a permit?

Requirements vary by county. We provide engineering documentation that supports permitting, and we help with whatever your local office asks for.

How is the dome assembled?

With an illustrated manual, a full parts list and a small crew over a few days. A Harmony build lead can be arranged to oversee the build on site if you prefer.

How many people and how long does setup take?

Four to five people for the smaller sizes and about six for the larger ones, with most installs taking a few days.

What documentation and certificates do you provide?

On request we share the membrane and interior-liner certificates, the insulation test report, and snow-load and wind-load documentation, plus a per-project structural report. It is the paperwork your building department, engineer or insurer may ask for.

Warranty & Support

The help around your build, and what is covered.

What support do I get?

Every build includes the full manual and our team on call through your install, with a build lead available on request. You are never on your own.

Is there a warranty?

Yes, and it's in writing. The galvanized steel frame and the architectural cover carry a 5-year warranty. Windows and any manufacturing defects are covered for 14 months. With normal care, the expected service life is 15 to 20 years.

Can you help me start a glamping business?

Yes. A finished dome with the interior unit is a rentable space, and many owners run them as short-stay rentals. Tell us about your site and we will help you plan it.
